An immersive space to explain the history and social impact of AMPANS

Grup Transversal has developed a new museographic project at the AMPANS Foundation, an organisation that works to improve the quality of life, autonomy and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and in situations of vulnerability. ‘Connecting Lives’ is the name of the project located at La Parada, the new facility promoted by the Foundation in Manresa. The distinctive building designed by RCR Arquitectes is a residential space which, alongside the museum area, houses training classrooms and a good quality restaurant open to the public, making it a new architectural and social landmark in the region.

The exhibition accompanies visitors on a journey that helps them to understand both the values that have inspired the building and also the history of this third-sector organisation that has been working with people with disabilities for over fifty years.

The design of the experience has taken into account the building's aesthetic as well as sustainability criteria, being structured around three areas. The first presents the conception and construction of La Parada by means of panels and a large model that explains RCR's architectural principles and how their values have taken shape in the building. The second area explores the history of AMPANS and how it has become a leading organisation in Catalonia. In this area there's a tree that symbolises the Foundation; from its trunk emerge the branches via which, using an assortment of graphic, audiovisual and interactive resources and original objects, the Foundation's main areas of activity are explained: namely education and training, employment, homes and active living. The journey culminates with an emotional audiovisual installation where, through a mapping projected onto a large, mirrored 3D structure, visitors discover the stories of five people whose lives have been transformed thanks to the support of AMPANS. An interactive module invites visitors to become part of its community and join its support network, thereby reinforcing the collective commitment to a more inclusive society.
