The Railway Museum of Mallorca, located in Son Carrió (Sant Llorenç des Cardassar) and promoted by FERROCAIB Foundation, explains the social and commercial transformation undergone by the island of Mallorca thanks to the implementation of its railway network.
Visitors can experience a late 19th-century train station and immerse themselves in the island’s railway history thanks to a large immersive projection that forms part of a meticulously designed set, including a whole series of characters from the period as holograms.
Afterwards, they’re invited by a stationmaster to board a train where, with the help of Eugeni Estada, the engineer who designed the network, they take a symbolic tour looking out the windows of the carriage.
The visit ends in a room with various interactive exhibits that show different professions related to the railway, as well as a train simulator for the most expert drivers.
In short, an immersive project halfway between reality and virtuality in which large-format projections, holograms, immersive music, mappings and even the smoke of the locomotive turn this new venue into an exciting journey.
