Grup Transversal has been commissioned to continue the renovation of the Diocesan Museum of Tarragona, in this case the Gothic art gallery (located in the Corpus Christi chapel), taking advantage of the fact that the works of art on display had already been removed to facilitate repairs to the roof.
This renovation had two main aims: to arrange the works in such a way as to create a narrative for Catalan Gothic painting, which is very well represented in the collection, whilst at the same time freeing up the view of the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament, a marvellous Gothic area which had previously been concealed by the museography.
This has been achieved by redistributing the paintings and arranging them chronologically, which has been possible because the Diocesan Museum has an exceptional collection made up of pieces from all periods. The new museography has also used much lighter metallic structures to create an elegant exhibition style, in harmony with the previous phase, with evocative, meticulous lighting and innovative approach that, in addition to the works of art, helps to enhance the venue's architecture.
Thanks to this new layout, the apse and the large altarpiece of the Virgin now take centre stage as they can be observed from any point in the room.
