Grup Transversal conceived and produced the cultural experience “Gaudí’s Pedrera: The Origins”, a spectacular night-time video installation combining images, light and music on the rooftop of La Pedrera.
This represents a landmark in cutting edge museography as it's projected not only on a uniform surface but on five chimneys on the roof, each 7 metres high. Mappings are normally carried out on even surfaces such as façades but, on this occasion, they were used on sculpted elements with irregular volumes and differing depths, creating a surprising and enveloping effect. This rooftop experience is the culmination of a tour of La Pedrera, starting with another mapping in the patio on Passeig de Gràcia and continuing in the attic. Once on the roof, visitors can enjoy the video installation, which lasts around 20 minutes, and a narration that goes back to the origins of the universe, focusing especially on nature as a source of inspiration for Gaudí's work and most particularly for La Pedrera. The music has been specially created by the composer Francesc Gener.
This experience premiered in May 2015 and can be seen every evening, with the aim of becoming a catalyst for evenings at La Pedrera and, in general, a benchmark for leisure in the city of Barcelona. Grup Transversal is responsible for the original idea, creativity and the whole production and set-up.
