A project to establish a policy to promote tourism for Berga with the "Patum" festival at its core

Berga Council has started a process to revitalise tourism based on culture and heritage, including different proposals for museums and tourist facilities. But at the beginning the panorama was characterised by a certain confusion and severe lack of planning in the actions that had to be carried out. In this respect, the project was to draw up a proposal, in line with Berga's history, that could compete with other proposals for cultural tourism existing in the same county and in Catalonia in general.

Firstly, the work formulated a thematic hierarchy, with the "Patum" festival as the emblematic element at the head, serving as a base to structure and prioritise proposals coherently. The proposal was to create a large museum and tourism centre (Patum Museum) to centralise the currently dispersed facilities. This Museum was to take advantage, throughout the year, of the emblematic image of Berga generated by the Patum festival, at a time when it was likely to be declared of Human Heritage. A series of itineraries also had to be coordinated to discover Berga's history and revitalise the town, as well as capitalising a wider range of resources related to Berga.
